We celebrated Valentine's Day in our usual casual way. Josh bought the kids each a box of chocolates and we wrote them each a love note, telling them all the things we love about them.
The kids made me cards and even a Minecraft world, complete with a home (that had a flower lined walkway and dark shutters) and a big veggie garden. Inside my home is a lovely kitchen, big dining room, a piano and many other specific things they know I love. I thought it was extremely thoughtful of them, and it kind of amazed me knowing how much time they put into it. I sure love my kids.
Ben tried to secretly buy me a box of chocolates from New Morning Bakery and he did a pretty good job. He spent $10 of his hard earned dollars. He didn't have to do that, but said he wanted to. Sweet boy.
That evening, this hunky guy took me out for pizza at the same little place we went the same night we got engaged back in 2001. It's now becoming tradition, since we did that last year too. We played a little trivia game while we waited for our pizza and gazed into each other's eyes. ;) It turned out that one of Josh's old friends bought this place and runs it now, so Josh got to catch up with him a bit.
We decided to go get coffee afterward and ran into our good friends, Bryson & Paris. The funny thing was that the last time we went out for coffee here we were with them! We got to enjoy an hour of great conversation with them. Love those two.
I love how often we've been running into friends around town lately. We stopped at the library to pick up some holds and saw Hannah and her kids about to go inside. We got to join them for an hour and let the kids find books together. At one point the train was going by the library and the Benton County Courthouse and it felt about as Corvallis as it could get. Loved that feeling.
Matt and Gina hosted a great Minecraft birthday party for Nora over at Caleb & Jen's. The kids had a fun time making slime and hitting a pinata. I loved getting to know their friends more. So many sweet families. Happy 5th Nora!! We sure love you!
Speaking of birthdays, the kids also loved wishing Elliott a happy birthday as we all grabbed coffee before heading out on our beach trip.
We've continued our tradition of playing spades with the Smiths regularly. It's been extra easy now that we live by one another. We rarely seem to get a picture of us adults, though. Just lame hands that we photograph to justify our terrible bids. :)
Ben continues to practice his guitar and really likes it. I love his style.
He also has taken an interest in drawing lately.
I'll end with this cute photo that Gina took recently at church. Ben put himself in charge of checking in the kids that week. :)
