Lake House Vacation Day 3

This was my favorite day of our trip. I loved mini golfing with the kids and I loved spending hours at the Heceta Head Lighthouse beach. What a gorgeous place! I definitely would like to take a day trip there this summer to enjoy the scenery of that incredible place again!

After a slow restful morning we made our way to the local mini golf course.

We had a great time playing, but after a few holes we made the mistake of telling the kids that if they could make a hole-in-one they would earn a dollar. Unfortunately that changed the game's dynamic from group fun, to kids just wanting to make a hole-in-one and nothing else. ;) Ben got so upset/frustrated that he wasn't getting a hole-in-one that he ended up throwing a rather large fit. So large in fact that Josh told him that he was no longer eligible to earn a dollar if he scored a hole-in-one. He lost that privilege. Well, guess who scored a hole-in-one on the next hole? Yep, you guessed it, Ben! Did he get a dollar? Of course not. ;) But we did cheer for him and we made a big exciting deal about it, and took a picture to remember the exciting moment!... but no money. :( It was a good learning experience for everyone.

Next we were off to the beach, to hike (more like walk the charming path) and play in the sand and water. This photo was taken on our way home, but I'm posting it first to show where we hiked and the beach cove we played on...

Ok, but back to when we really arrived...

This is one of the original houses that the people who manned the light house lived in. It's now a bed and breakfast with a lovely view! :)

I just couldn't get over Heceta Head's beauty. All of my favorite pics are at the end of this post. The hike itself was so lovely, with many pretty views. We explored all around the lighthouse, but it had just closed, so we didn't get to go inside.

On the walk back down to the beach the kids took turns jumping from this tree into Josh's arms. They each got several turns. :)

"Mom, will you take our picture on this stump?"

Then we spent lots of time playing on the beach until the sun went down.

We stopped at a look out point on our way back to the house and we could hear sea lions down below. Do you see them on the rocks?

Then as we were heading back to town we stopped so I could take a couple more view shots looking the other direction...

Josh is so sweet and always indulges my desire to stop at viewpoints to take photos. He took this pic of me from the car, while I was snapping these pics above. He said that he and the kids were a little freaked out by me standing there on the ledge. What they couldn't see was that there was about 15-20 feet of grassy bank right beneath me. There was nothing risky here. I'm way too cautious. But the pic's angle is pretty funny.
