It smells like Barbasol...

Jude had such a fun day at sensory therapy today! He's doing a 4 day "intensive" this week, where he goes 4 days in a row and does things that are a bit more intense than usual. Today's function was to "slip n slide" in shaving cream! It's like being thrown into the deep end of the pool for kids like Jude who don't like anything icky on their hands or to get dirty. :)

When Jude started therapy over 6 months ago, Miss M tried to get Jude to just use his hands to play in the shaving cream and he didn't even want to touch it! I think she eventually got him to touch it once, and then he was done. Well, therapy has just been awesome and Jude has grown so much! A lot of things don't freak him out as much anymore. We did a lot of prepping for today, letting him know what to expect. I told him that the therapy room would look different, and he would wear swim shorts and it was ok to get messy (just like when we get wet with water in a pool) and I had a change of clothes and towels so he could easily be clean again, etc. Well, he seriously shocked us all when we arrived. I expected him to freak out and instead he immediately took off his shirt and jumped right into the mess and was excited to slide down the little ramp! Miss M and I looked at each other quite pleasantly surprised!! :) Too fun!!

At the end he and all the other boys got hosed down and we put on Jude's cozy clothes for the drive home. He had a great time and this was really huge for him. I just love, love the place he goes for therapy! They are amazing, and so great at what they do! What a blessing!! Here are a few fun pics. :)
Playing with Miss M! Jude adores her!
 Sliding down the slick ramp...

A wide shot of the room and everyone having a crazy fun time. Jude is in the far back of this pic on the waterbed covered in shaving cream.
The hose down at the end... :) Even though the water was cold, Jude did great with it!
Yesterday was a lot of jumping into hanging hammocks and playing a sensory game as a group with the other boys (which is really good for Jude). Who knows what's in store for tomorrow!

Amazing !! I really loved hearing about this and want to hear the details of all the other activities he did that week ..esp the sensory game as a group - yes SO good for him. Oh the joy on his face in these pics - made my heart soar. I can so totally think of a day he would have been so worried about that stuff " in his hair " or some might have gotten on his lips !! To see him gleefully headlong slide down goo like a 6yr old does .. well that just made my day , a week late :o) . Dont forget to fill me in on rest soon and his Eval !! Love that boy AND those Sibs AND your posts AND YOU ... haha
